Sugar Land is in Fort Bend County. Sugar Land is about twenty
five miles from Houston. Sugar Land has a growing population now over eighty
thousand people. Sugar Land was once home to the main refinery for Imperial
Sugar. The Imperial Sugar Company still have their head quarters in Sugar
Land. As the name Sugar Land suggests it originated as a centre for producing
cane sugar in 1850. Sugar Land was incorporated as the City of Sugar Land
in 1959. Other large companies residing in Sugar Land include Western Airways.
Sugar Land is within the Houston - Sugar Land - Baytown metropolitan area
reflecting the economic importance of Sugar Land and its economic growth.
There are numerous restaurants in downtown Sugar Land. Sugar land has a
conference center and Sugar Land Ice and sports Center.
