Robstown is in north central Nueces County. Robstown is just
over ten miles from Corpus Christi. Robstown got its name in respect for
Mr. Robert Driscoll in 1906. The community called Robstown was incorporated
as the city of Robstown in 1912. Oil was struck near Robstown in the nineteen
thirties and many people moved into the Robstown area to seek their fortune.
Much of the Robstown economic development remains in petro-chemicals and
agricultural interests. Today Robstown has a population of over fourteen
thousand people. Robstown public schools are controlled by Robstown Independent
School District. Robstown stands at the intersect of US Highway 77 and State
Highway 44.
