Roanoke is in Denton County. There are an estimated six thousand
residents lining in Roanoke at present. Roanoke schools are in the Northwest
ISD. Well known former Roanoke residents include golf legend Byron Nelson
- Roanoke has named a road in his honor. The name Roanoke was given to the
town in 1882 by a railroad employee who said it reminded him of Roanoke
in Virginia. Initially a cattle town Roanoke has had an eventful history.
Outlaws were known to shelter near to Roanoke in caves to prevent capture.
Roanoke was incorporated as the city of Roanoke in 1833. Today downtown
Roanoke retains much of its original charm and Roanoke has many good restaurants
to sample and explore.
