Red Oak is in Ellis County. Red Oak was originally called
Possum Trot but this was changed to Red Oak in 1849 after the nearby Red
Oak Creek. Red Oak is about a twenty minute drive from Dallas and for this
reason Red Oak is popular as a commuter town. Red Oak is well position on
the Interstate 35 E Corridor. Red Oak has a growing number of residents
who now exceed six thousand. Red Oak school system is controlled by the
Red Oak Independent School District. Red Oak has been used many times as
a location for movie makers. Many scenes from Bonnie and Clyde were filmed
at Red Oak.
