Quanah is in Hardeman County, in the Texas Panhandle. Quanah
got its name in respect of the Comanche Indian Chief called Quanah Parker.
Quanah has an estimated four thousand residents and their public school
system is under the control of Quanah Independent School District. Quanah
has road links on Highway 287. Quanah offers visitors an insight into a
past heritage and culture. Childress is just less than thirty miles west
from Quanah. Fort Worth is almost two hundred miles southeast from Quanah.
Places of interest include Hardeman County Museum in the old Jailhouse in
Quanah. Just over ten miles from Quanah is the Copper Breaks State Park
and its camping and boating amenities. Lake Pauline only five miles from
Quanah offers good fishing.
