The city of Post is in Garza County in Texas. The county has
over 550,000 acres of land with over 100,000 acres of this as land for growing
crops, the remainder being range land. The rangeland around Post supports
over 15,000 head of beef cattle. Post saw its first settlers in the early
1900's when Mr C.W. Post gave the settlement its name. C. W. Post spent
a considerable amount of time and money drilling in this area looking for
oil. Post was not successful in his attempts but was later proved to be
correct in his thinking that oil was present in this area. Every August
Post holds its annual four day Post Stampede Rodeo which provides visitors
with an insight into the real West. Post has many facilities including parkland
area with golf course and swimming pool. There are two lakes within a short
distance from Post.
