Port Lavaca is in Calhoun County on the west coast of Lavaca
Bay. Port Lavaca is about one hundred and fifteen miles from Houston. Port
Lavaca is about eighty miles from Corpus Christi. Port Lavaca was previously
called Lavaca but became Port Lavaca following the dredging of the sandbars
in Lavaca Bay to establish Lavaca with a deepwater Port and the new title
as the city of Port Lavaca. Annual events include Port Lavaca Fishing Festival,
Port Lavaca summer Heritage event. Port Lavaca hosts the County Fair each
fall. Port Lavaca has over twelve thousand people living within Port Lavaca
city limits.
