Pleasanton is in Atascosa County, Texas. Pleasanton describes
itself as being the Birthplace of the Cowboy reflecting past events that
occurred in Pleasanton and its rich heritage. The city of Pleasanton got
its name in respect of a local man called John Pleasanton who lived here
in 1858. Pleasanton was incorporated as the city of Pleasanton in 1917.
Pleasanton currently has over ten thousand residents. Pleasanton public
education is provided by the Pleasanton and Jourdanton ISD's. Many people
visit Pleasanton in August to witness the Cowboy Homecoming program of events
that Pleasanton has become famed for. Pleasanton economy owes much to its
cattle industry.
