Navasota is in Grimes County. Navasota is on State Highway
105. The city of Navasota gets its name from the Navasota River which it
is adjacent. Bryan College Station is about twenty four miles north of Navasota.
The Navasota Municipal Airport provides easy air access to Navasota and
the surrounding area. Navasota was previously called Hollandale after its
first land owner but was changed to Navasota in 1845. In those days Navasota
was a farming community and shipped timber from Navasota throughout the
Texas. Local heritage site of great importance in Navasota include the Washington-On-The-Brazos
State Park. This Navasota attraction with its replicated construction of
the Independence Hall was the location where the Independence for Mexico
declaration was formalized in 1836. Many Navasota visitors come to this
Park and enjoy the many trails and walks near the Navasota and Brazos rivers.
