Mount Pleasant is the county seat of Titus County in northeast
Texas. Mount Pleasant is conveniently located on Interstate Highway 30.
Mount Pleasant name was derived from a hill covered in forest called Pleasant
Mount and this was altered to form the city name Mount Pleasant in 1847.
Used as a depot for fitting out wagons during the Civil War Mount Pleasant
was an important site. Mount Pleasant sent over a thousand men to the Confederate
Armies. Mount Pleasant has many jogging trails in its parks. Dellwood Park
in Mount Pleasant has a swimming pool and tennis courts. There are many
lakes in the Mount Pleasant region providing water based activities. The
Lake Bob Sandlin state Park is just a few minutes drive from Mount Pleasant.
It has good fishing and camping sites for Mount Pleasant visitors.
