Mount Enterprise is in southern Rusk County. Laneville is
about ten miles from Mount Enterprise. Beaumont is just over one hundred
and ten miles from Mount Enterprise. City of Mount Enterprise got its name
from a geographical landmark nearby called Mount Enterprise. The first people
to settle in Mount Enterprise arrived around 1830. Much of the early businesses
in Mount Enterprise were associated with lumber. Mount Enterprise was split
in two halves when the railroad came within two miles of the town. Some
people moved to live by the tracks and this development was called New Mount
Enterprise with others staying in the old Mount Enterprise location. Mount
Enterprise was incorporated as the city of Mount Enterprise in 1939.
