Mission is in Hidalgo County. Mission got its name from the
fact that Spanish Missions were constructed on the land now called Mission
in 1762. In 1908 Mission was incorporated as the city of Mission. This year
also saw a railway stop in Mission and its growth and future development
was secured. Mission has a growing number of people living in it and they
number over fifty thousand. Most receive their education from the Mission
ISD. The Citrus Parade is an annual Mission event reflecting the fact that
Mission grows thousands of ruby red grapefruits each year. It is only about
four miles from Mission to the Military Museum for the Rio Grande Valley.
The Cimarron Country Club is also in Mission.
