McGregor is in western McLennan County. McGregor is just a
twenty minute drive from Waco. McGregor got its name from Dr. G.C. McGregor
a local landowner. The city began life as a point where railroad engines
refilled with water before setting off again and went by the name of McGregor
Springs. The name was shortened and railways still play an important role
in the McGregor economy. McGregor amenities include Amsler Park swim center
and four city parks. There are plenty of different recreation activities
in McGregor parkland areas. In McGregor there are eight golf courses. Camping
and boating activities in McGregor include Lake Belton or Lake Waco. Near
to the city of McGregor is the Mother Neff State Park.
