Lake Brownwood is in Brown County. The city of Brownwood is
just to the south of Lake Brownwood. Lake Brownwood is geographically almost
in the center of the state of Texas. Lake Brownwood currently has an estimated
two thousand residents. Lake Brownwood has a surface area of more than seven
thousand acres. Lake Brownwood was created when a dam was constructed at
Pecan Bayou resulting in Lake Brownwood Reservoir. Lake Brownwood State
Park with more than five hundred acres represents a popular camping facility.
Lake Brownwood has boating, jet ski areas and considerable number of fishing
areas. Fishing in Lake Brownwood would normally result in Large and Small
Mouth Bass, Stripers and Perch. Lake Brownwood area has miles of walking
trails.
