Kenedy is in southwestern Karnes County. Kenedy was a small
settlement on the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. Kenedy was given
its name after Mr. M Kenedy in 1887 although it was initially called Kenedy
Junction. Kenedy was incorporated in 1910. Kenedy stand adjacent to State
Highway 72 and US Highway 181.Karnes City is seventy miles north of Kenedy.
The estimated current population of Kenedy is three thousand and they are
served by the Kenedy Independent School District.
