Kemah was previously called Flanders Grove but was changed
to Kemah in 1907. Kemah comes from an American Indian translation 'Wind
in the Face'. Kemah which sits on Galveston Bay was incorporated as the
city of Kemah in 1965. Traveling time from Kemah to Hobby International
Airport in Houston is just thirty minutes. The Kemah Boardwalk provides
an excellent viewpoint for observing every kind of craft from Kemah shrimp
