Hearne is in Robertson County in central Texas. Bryan College
Station and Texas A&M University and are just twenty four miles from
Hearne. Hearne has over 5000 residents within the Hearne ISD. Hearne is
located at the point where Highway 6 meets US Highways 79 and 190. Calvert
is only nine miles north from Hearne. Franklin is twelve miles northeast
from Hearne. The city of Hearne got its name from Mr. Christopher Hearne
who donated land for the construction of the town in 1858. The Houston and
Texas Railroad brought economic growth of Hearne in 1867. Tourist attractions
to visit include the Hearne Railway Depot. During World War Two prisoners
of war where brought to Camp Hearne which was constructed north of the city.
Hearne has good air links with the nearby Hearne Municipal Airport.
