Greenville is in county seat of Hunt County in north central
Texas. Greenville was founded in 1846 and incorporated as the city of Greenville
in 1852. Dallas is fifty nine miles southwest of Greenville. Greenville
and Hunt County was a prolific producer of cotton and Greenville had the
biggest inland cotton compressor in the US prior to its destruction in a
fire. Estimated number of residents in Greenville exceeds 27,000 served
by the Greenville Independent School District. Greenville is adjacent to
Interstate Highway 30. Greenville got its name from General Thomas J Green.
