Grand Prairie can be found with part in Dallas County, part
of Tarrant County and part of Ellis County also. Grand Prairie is reported
to have got its name when a well known actress on her arrival remarked what
a Grand Prairie. It was incorporated as the City of Grand Prairie in 1909.
Today Grand Prairie has over 150,000 residents. Tourist attractions in the
Grand Prairie area include the childrens water park called the Splash Factory.
There are in fact over 50 parks in the Grand Prairie area. For adults there
is the Grand Prairie Winery to explore and enjoy or a try day out in the
Grand Prairie Lone Star Park with its Vegas type horse racing. The Nokia
Theatre in Grand Prairie has a six thousand plus capacity. Joe Pool Lake
is near to Grand Prairie and offers a wide variety of water activities.
