The city of Gonzales is the county seat of Gonzales County.
Gonzales has over 7,500 residents in the Gonzales ISD. Victoria is fifty
four miles southeast of Gonzales. Austin is fifty three miles north of Gonzales.
Gonzales was the very first Anglo-American colony west of the Colorado River.
Gonzales got its name from the Governor of Coahuile y Tejas Rafael Gonzales
in 1825. Gonzales past history includes conflict with Mexico in the Battle
of Gonzales in 1835.
