The city of Georgetown is in Williamson County. Trail drives
north to the stock yards once passed through Georgetown on the Old Chisholm
Trail. Georgetown currently has over thirty thousand residents. Georgetown
is home to The Southwestern University. Georgetown got its town name in
honor of Mr. George Glasscock . Georgetown has a short line railway connecting
it with Union Pacific called Georgetown Railroad. Visitor attractions in
Georgetown include the County Courthouse in downtown Georgetown. The Inner
Space Caverns Paleontology site are also located in Georgetown - these caves
were discovered in the 1960's when the Highway department were test drilling
for a possible new Georgetown Highway.
