The city of Freer is found in Duval County, Texas. Freer has
a community of over 3000 who are served by the Freer Independent school
District. Freer derived its name from Mr. Charles Freer in 1925 when a post
office was set up in the town. Freer is adjacent to State Highway, 339,
44 , 16 and US Highway 59. San Diego is only twenty three miles from Freer
to the southeast. San Antonio is one hundred and nine miles north of Freer
and Corpus Christi is eighty four miles to the east of Freer. Rattlesnake
Roundup an annual Freer event takes place each year in May. The Dear Camp
located at Mui Grande is just over one mile from Freer.
