Fabens is in El Paso County. Fabens has currently over 10,000
residents who are within the Fabens ISD. El Paso is just 24 miles northwest
from Fabens along the Rio Grande. Fabens is adjacent to Interstate Highway
10. Fabens gets its name from a local Fabens Lawyer and Southern Pacific
Railroad employee Mr. George Wilson Fabens. A settlement was established
near Fabens in 1665 called San Franciso de los Sumas and in 1870 a farm
was built on the land now occupied by Fabens. The town of Fabens was developed
further in the early 1900's by the Fabens Town Site and Improvement Company
