Edinburg
Edinburg is in the Rio Grande Valley on the tropical tip of Texas in
Hidalgo County. The University Texas - Pan American is located in Edinburg
only a few miles from the Mexican border. South Padre Island on the Gulf
of Mexico home to the UT Pan American Coastal Lab is about 72 miles from
UT Pan American base in Edinburg. Most of Edinburg is served by the Edinburg
Consolidated School District. To the south of Edinburg is the city of
McAllen. A few miles further south from Edinburg over the Mexico border
lies the city of Reynosa. Edinburg was named after the Scottish town of
Edinburg. The Edinburg economy is boosted with tourism and many local
business people speak both Spanish and English. The nearest airport is
Edinburg International Airport which is convenient located near to downtown
Edinburg.
