Edinburg is in the Rio Grande Valley on the tropical tip of Texas in
Hidalgo County. The University Texas - Pan American is located in Edinburg
only a few miles from the Mexican border. South Padre Island on the Gulf

UT Pan American base in Edinburg. Most of Edinburg is served by the Edinburg
Consolidated School District. To the south of Edinburg is the city of
McAllen. A few miles further south from Edinburg over the Mexico border
lies the city of Reynosa. Edinburg was named after the Scottish town of
