Eagle Pass is the county seat of Maverick County. Eagle Pass
sits adjacent to the Rio Grande River on the Mexican border. Eagle Pass
is located on US Highway 57 and 277. On the opposite side of the river from
Eagle Pass are the Mexican cities of Coahuila and Piedras Negra. San Antonio
is about 139 miles northeast from Eagle Pass. Monterrey is 259 miles south
of Eagle Pass in Mexico. Eagle Pass developed due to its geographic location
on the route between Mexico and San Antonio. The US Army built a camp in
this region - Fort Duncan and Eagle Pass developed although even with this
military presence it was not always a peaceful area to live. Today Eagle
Pass has over 25,000 residents. Eagle Pass has many recreational activities
to enjoy including the eighteen tee Eagle Pass Municipal Golf Course.
