School District extends into parts of DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Dallas and the
City of Duncanville. Duncanville was previously called Duncan Switch - a
name that refers to a railway switching station that was constructed there
by the Chicago, Texas and Mexican Central Railroad. As there was already
a town in Texas called Duncan they simply added the ville to create the
new unique name Duncanville. There are numerous shops to explore along Main
Street in Duncanville or travel the short distance from Duncanville into
the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. Duncanville has currently 35,000 residents.
There is also an ice rink located in Duncanville at the Dr Pepper Star Center.
Visitor attractions in the Duncanville surrounding area include Six Flags
over Texas, American Airlines Center and Texas Stadium.
