Del Valle is in the Austin-Round Rock region. Del Valle is
in Travis County. Austin is about 6 miles northwest of Del Valle. The community
of Del Valle has over 3000 residents. Del Valle residents are within the
Del Valle Independent School District area which was previously called the
Colorado School District. Del Valle is on the Colorado River and was given
this name as it was on the land grant for Santiago Del Valle. The economy
in Del Valle increased when Del Valle Army Airfield was built in 1942. The
Del Valle Airport late known as Bergstrom Air Force Base is today called
Austin - Bergstrom International Airport and it provides air links for Austin,
Del Valle and the surrounding areas.
