Dalhart is the county seat of Dallam County and Dalhart is
also partly in Hartley County both of which are located in the north west
of the Texas Panhandle. Dalhart got its name by taking the first part of
both county names Dal from Dallam and hart from Hartley to produce Dalhart.
The town was incorporated as the City of Dalhart in 1904. Dalhart has access
to three US Highways 54, 385 and 87. Dalhart has approximately 8000 residents.
Amarillo is 84 miles southeast of Dalhart. Dalhart is adjacent to the counties
of Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas.
