Dallas Fort Worth is 60 miles northwest from Corsicana. Waco
is 50 miles southwest from Corsicana. The city of Corsicana is at Interstate
45 and State Highway 31. Corsicana is the county seat of Navarro County.
Corsicana is 10 miles northwest from the third biggest lake in Texas, Richard
Chambers Lake which is located off State Highway 287. In 1884 while drilling
for water Corsicana became the first city west of the Mississippi to strike
oil. The Mobil Oil Company started refining oil in Corsicana by 1897. Another
well known oil brand - Texaco also refined oil in the Corsicana area. The
Corsicana Municipal Airport is just five miles southeast of Corsicana off
State Highway 287.
