San Antonio is just 12 miles to the southwest of Converse.
The city of Converse has a community of over 13,000 and it is projected
the Converse will become the biggest suburban town in the San Antonio metro
area. Converse was named after Major Converse who was the chief engineer
with the Railroad - Southern Pacific. Converse was initially settled by
a group of farmers who came from Germany. Converse is part of northeast
Bexar County. The city of Converse covers a land area of over 16 km².
