Colorado City is the County seat of Mitchell County. Colorado
City is centrally located on Interstate 20 between El Paso and Dallas. It
has more than 6,000 residents who live within the Colorado City Independent
School District. Colorado City is 70 miles from San Angelo. Lubbock is about
100 miles north of Colorado City. Five miles west of Colorado City on Morgan
Creek is Colorado City Lake. With a surface area of over 1500 acres Colorado
City Lake is a popular venue for boating and fishing activities. Local attractions
in and around Colorado City include the Branding Wall which proudly displays
over 225 cattle brands used within the county, Colorado City Museum and
Lake Colorado City State Park.
