College Station
The city of College Station lies in Brazos County. Houston is 94 miles
from College Station. San Antonio is 165 miles from College Station and
Dallas is 168 miles from College Station. Bryan and College Station collectively
comprise the Bryan College Station Metropolitan area which has over 200,000
residents. In 1860 the Houston & Texas Central Railroad company built
through this region and in 1871 it was the selected home of the A&M
College of Texas - later named as A&M University. The fact that the
Texas A&M University is built alongside the railway track gives College
Station its literal name.
It was incorporated as the city of College Station in 1938. Many business
parks have developed around College Station with many software / technology
/ telecommunication businesses locating to this popular College Station
area. In the north west of College Station near A&M University is
the location of Easterwood Airport which provides daily flights to Houston
and Dallas. George Bush once lived in College Station.
