Clear Lake City is in the corporate limits of Houston and
a small part of the city of Pasedena. Clear Lake City is in Harris County.
The area around Clear Lake City is home to numerous aerospace corporations
including Lockheed Martin, McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. Clear Lake City
is also home to the Johnson Space Center. Other major industry in the Clear
Lake City vicinity include petro chemicals. Also within the Clear Lake City
area is the University of Houston - Clear Lake. The city is on State Highway
3. Local tourist attractions in Clear Lake City include the Clear Lake Spring
Fling and Boating Annual Festival and the Xmas Boat Lane Parade. Clear Lake
City was annexed by Houston in the 1980's. Clear Lake City today has over
64,000 residents. On the South east of Clear Lake is the island community
of Clear Lake Shores home to many marinas and Yacht Clubs. Clear Lake Shores
offers many water based activities including fishing and bird watching.
Closeby to Clear Lake Shores is Galveston Island. As Clear Lake is on the
Gulf of Mexico it has mild winters making it a year round destination for
visitors.
