The county seat of Leon County is called Centerville. Centreville
is geographically positioned centrally within Leon County. Centerville is
also almost the mid point between the cities of Houston and Dallas. It is
clear to see that Centerville gained its name from its location. It was
granted this Centerville title in 1850. State Highways 75 and 7 and Interstate
Highway 45 all intersect at Centerville. The city of Centerville has a city
area of almost 4 square kilometers and Centreville is only a few minutes
drive from College Station where the Texas A&M University is based.
Centerville is served by the Centerville Independent School District. As
Centerville is near College Station and near A&M University it is a
popular hotel accommodation destination for many visitors to the A&M
University.
