Cedar Hill is just 16 miles from downtown Dallas. Cedar Hill
was temporarily the county capital is the 1850's. The city of Cedar Hill
has over 40,000 residents. Cedar Hill city limits cover an area of ninety
square kilometers. Due to its elevation Cedar Hill has a great number of
antennas for local television and radio stations. As Cedar Hill has the
highest elevation in the county of Dallas, Cedar Hill provides wonderful
views over the Cedar Hill State Park, the Joe Pool Lake and across the Metroplex.
Cedar Hill also has radar devices on it to assist in the tracking of tornadoes
in both the Cedar Hill and surrounding areas. With over 36 square miles
of rolling hills full of Cedar trees it is not hard to imagine how Cedar
Hill first got its name.
