The city of Buda is in Hays County which is in central Texas.
It is thought that Buda a translated word from Spanish. The literal translation
for Buda means widow in Spanish. The Carrington Hotel in Buda at that time
had two widows who prepared meals for the many rail passengers. Buda has
good road links as it is adjacent to Interstate 35. Buda was incorporated
as a city in 1948. Austin is only 13 miles from Buda to the northeast. San
Antonio is just 60 miles from Buda to the southwest. Buda was previously
called Du Pre but changed its name to Buda in 1886 after 'The Buda House'
which had a reputation as being the best hotel in the State. Buda is a popular
