The City Bridgeport is in Wise County Texas. Bridgeport is
only 45 miles from Fort Worth. The name Bridgeport is due to the construction
of a bridge adjacent to this settlement and because it acted as a port for
those traveling up and down the river. In Bridgeport in 1930 the construction
of a dam by the Water Control Authority of Tarrant County at the Trinity
River west of Bridgeport resulted in the formation of Lake Bridgeport. The
favorable climate means that Lake Bridgeport can offer almost year long
water based activities and pastimes along its shoreline. Bridgeport is conveniently
served by the nearby Bridgeport Municipal Airport. Every year Bridgeport
hosts a Rodeo and Parade supported by the Bridgeport Riding Club.
