The city of Belton was established in 1850 as the county seat
for Bell County, Texas. Belton has over 18,000 residents. Temple is to the
north of Belton and the Salado is to the south of Belton. The City of Belton
is served by the Belton Independent School District. The University of Mary
Hardin-Baylor UMHB is found in Belton. There are two main lakes in the Belton
area - Stillhouse Hollow Lake and Belton Lake. Belton is also home to the
Bell County Expo Centre.
