The city of Beeville is the county seat of Bee County, Texas.
The population of Beeville is currently 15,000. Beeville was named after
Colonel Barnard E. Bee Sr. who was the Secretary of State and Secretary
of War for the State of Texas. It was originally named Beeville on the Poesta
and a nearby settlement took the name Beeville on the Medio. In the early
1900's Beeville was also widely known as the 'Forest of Windmills' owing
to the fact that almost every Beeville yard had a windmill in it. Beeville
is served by the Beeville Independent School District.
