Azle is found in the northwest region of Tarrant County and also part
of Parker County on the south west shore of Eagle Mountain Lake. The 2000
census shows that Azle had a population of 9,600. Azle is on State Highway
199 and downtown Fort Worth is 15 miles to the south of Azle offering
a wide range of shopping and recreational venues. DFW International Airport
is conveniently located only 24 miles from Azle. The city of Azle derives
its name from one of its first residents from 1846 when a doctor called
Azle Steward moved into the new settlement. Azle is in the Azle Independent
School District. With Azle offering a gateway to Eagle Mountain Lake and
with its close proximity to Dallas Fort Worth, Azle continues to provide
a popular destination for visitors. Azle is a pleasant commuter town.
