The City of Alice, TX is the county seat of Jim Wells County and currently
has a population of some 21,000 residents. Alice is located centrally
within Southern Texas. Alice provides a commercial industry center for
the petroleum industry, agricultural businesses and tourism. A previous
name for the city of Alice was Kleberg but it was finally named Alice
after the daughter of Captain Richard King, one of the founders of the
well known King Ranch - Alice King Kleberg. Alice has much to offer in
terms of outdoor active lifestyles and recreational activities. Alice
has an abundance of wildlife and is a popular destination for fishing
and hunting trips. Bird watching is another popular pastime in the Alice
region.
