The city still calls itself the Town of Addison but it Addison
is actually incorporated as a city. Addison has a population of some 16,000
residents and continues to be one of the most popular destinations in the
Dallas area. The town took its name from Addison Robertson who was a former
postmaster in the early 1900's. The Addison Airport facility caters for
both private and chartered flights. Addison is a northern suburb of Dallas.
Downtown Dallas is only 13 miles south of Addison. Addison has over 20 hotels
and with 180 restaurants to choose from all located in Addison within a
compact 4.5 square mile area. This means that all Addison hotels, shopping
venues and dining facilities are never more than a five minute drive. Addison
has all the advantages of the big cities but retaining a friendly small
town atmosphere. The largest employers in the Addison area include Pizza
Hut, MBNA, Regus and CompUSA.
